hello!

Sylwia Jurek is a modern wedding, portrait and family photographer. Currently residing in Zielona Góra, Poland and works all over Poland and abroad.

She was born in Walbrzych, Poland and moved to Ireland in 2007 and returned back to her roots in 2020. Her nationality influenced her work greatly and it can be seen in her project ‘Introspection’. She draws her inspirations from photographers like Alicia Savage, Sally Mann and Ansel Adams. Her work is often conceptual, dreamlike and requests the viewers to engage with the photographs. She displays the work in a clean, minimalistic manner, usually including just a title or a short summary of her work, without giving much away. Framing the photographs with simple white frames has become an effective signature look in her recent installations. She believes her work should raise questions and give an insight into her creative perspective of seeing the world.

Sylwia likes to work with digital cameras, which enable her to work with modern media and digital editing software. She chooses digital format over film to give her work the sleek and contemporary look she’s looking for. She has incorporated moving image and sound into her work over the past two years, as well as taking inspirations from poetry and writings.
